ON BREATHING UNDERWATER
This project is an art book installation that moves through poetry, personal archive, and storytelling to trace the coastlines we carry in memory.
The artwork centers on the Red Sea: its shores, its tides, the way water recedes and returns. Drawing on histories of migration across oceans and seas, ON BREATHING UNDERWATER turns toward a set of questions that resist easy answers. What is the relationship between a city and its shore? What do we lose when we stop paying attention to our environment? What monsters do we make of those we don’t understand?
Through obscured writing and distorted image, the work holds the viewer in that suspension between the weight of what is known and the pull of what isn’t.
